Safaris in the park not only showcase the area’s natural beauty, but also provide opportunities to spot wildlife such as leopards, elephants, baboons and lions – in the Ishasha sector of the park, the lions are renowned for climbing trees. In the Kyambura Gorge, a lush, tropical forest within the park, it’s possible to trek to see chimpanzees in their natural habitat.

Wildlife viewing is optimal during the driest months of January, February and June to August. The wettest months of April, May and September to November can see a lot of rainfall, whilst in the shoulder season months the rains that arrive do make the park beautiful and green.
