Why visit Cape Town?

Cape Town is one of the world’s most popular cities to visit, and with good reason. The setting is nothing short of spectacular, framed by mountains and the ocean. The waterfront pulses with life, there are gardens and vineyards to discover, unmissable heritage sights and an ever-evolving culinary scene. A short drive from the city and you’ll reach the beaches and natural beauty of the Cape Peninsula

We suggest four – or better still, five – days to really explore all that this incredible city has to offer.

Wonderful hotels, boutique guesthouses and apartments are found across the city and its suburbs, and our team will be delighted to help you choose the perfect base.

Cape Town's Highlights

  • A trip up Table Mountain is a must, where views over the city and Cape Point on a clear day will take your breath away. Ride up in the cable car (subject to weather conditions and opening times) or take an organised hike to the summit.
  • Foodies will love Cape Town’s innovative restaurant scene, from fine dining to trendy artisan cafes, coffee houses and gin bars. Take a guided walking tour among the colourful houses of the Bo-Kaap area and learn how to cook the famed Cape Malay curry.
  • The V&A Waterfront  has almost become a destination in itself. The shopping and entertainment area has a host of cafes and restaurants. Attractions include the Two Oceans Aquarium, art galleries, craft markets and the Time Out food market. On Saturday and Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, the Oranjezicht City Farm Market is a must.
  • Cape Town is blessed with a range of beaches. Camps Bay, Bantry Bay, Clifton and Llandudno are beautiful places to relax by the coast, but be warned, the Atlantic Ocean is cold!

  • Robben Island is steeped in recent South African history and is a fascinating place to learn about the apartheid-era and imprisonment of Nelson Mandela. Ferries depart from the V&A Waterfront - if the weather allows, there are spectacular views of Cape Town.
  • The rejuvenated Woodstock district is home to the Old Biscuit Mill, a venue for Cape Town’s artisans where you’ll find designer shops, restaurants from award-winning chefs and food stalls. At weekends, locals and visitors alike flock to the vibrant Neighbourgoods Market.
  • There are plenty of child-friendly activities to keep younger guests entertained. The aquarium is worth a visit and the open-top bus tour is a fun way to get your bearings.
  • On the first Thursday of every month, many of Cape Town’s galleries, restaurants and bars open late into the evening, bringing a lively atmosphere to the city centre.
  • For further cultural insights, we can arrange visits to township communities. By taking a tour you are helping to support the community providing vital employment, healthcare and education.

  • The Cape Peninsula which takes in Chapman’s Peak, Hout Bay, the penguins at Boulders Beach and Cape Point is a popular way to spend a half or full day experiencing another side of this beautiful city and its surrounding areas
  • Cape Town has many active outdoor pursuits. Kayak from the V&A Waterfront or cycle along the Sea Point promenade; trek up Lions Hill for sunrise or go sandboarding down the Atlantis dunes. There is also an impressive selection of golf courses. Chat to us about the variety of options available.
  • See the finest collection of over 9,000 South African plants at world-famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Set on the slopes of Table Mountain, the gardens are open from dawn to dusk and there is an excellent restaurant. Picnics and live music events are popular attractions in the summer months.
  • Constantia is one of Cape Town’s oldest suburbs where you’ll find Cape Dutch manor houses, leafy gardens and wine estates, including the country’s oldest wine farm. Staying here offers a peaceful alternative from the bustle of the city yet is just 20 minutes from the city centre.

Day Tours

The most popular day tours that take in the well-known sights around Cape Town can be booked for you either privately or by joining a small group. We have access to companies that offer these popular sights, but just that little bit differently; maybe take a city walking tour with a specialist guide; journey to Cape Point by side car or join a cycle tour around the city. Just let us know your preferences and we will suggest the perfect tour for you.

Cultural Sights

Opportunities to discover the journey of South Africa’s Rainbow Nation are many in Cape Town. Not only are there museums, art galleries or historical sites to see, you can also join a specialist tour to delve a little deeper. Examples include the story of Mandela’s life from Robben Island to president; visit projects based in the townships to discover how a difference is being made to lives in these challenging areas or take a walking tour around Bo Kaap to learn about the community.

Eat and Drink

Food lovers will be amazed at Cape Town’s food scene and the inventive and exciting ways to enjoy it. Aside of all the celebrated fine dining restaurants or the quirky bistro style eateries you can see the produce at a farmer’s market or take a guided City Eat/Walk Tour - you can even learn to cook. Sitting well alongside the food is a thriving wine and drinks scene. Spend an afternoon wine tasting at a nearby vineyard or take a guided walking tour of the bars in the city, ending with that secret gin bar we have yet to find!

Family Fun

Cape Town is a great destination for a family to make memories. Any of the experiences highlighted can be brought together into a private family tour tailored to include just whatever you wish, be that a visit to the penguins, surfing lessons or a tour around Cape Point with picnic lunch and cricket on the beach. In addition to this we can also discuss with you all the other attractions Cape Town offers a family, the Two Oceans Aquarium, Cape Town Science Centre, or the world’s first Dog Museum!

Something different?

Cape Town draws people back time and time again as there is always so much to see and do. So, if you are looking for something a little different then we feel confident there will be something new or unusual our team can suggest. Combine fine wines with museums and art galleries at Cape Town’s First Thursdays. Kirstenbosch Gardens will delight at any time of year, or marine safaris are a terrific way to experience the waters around Cape Point, especially during whale season.
