Overview

Thonga Beach Lodge is set in the protected marine world heritage site of iSimangaliso Wetland Park and is the ideal place to discover one of Africa’s last unspoilt wilderness beaches and to enjoy the surrounding coastal forests, grasslands, bush, lakes and exquisite sandy shoreline. With the nearest development over 60 miles away, you pretty much have all this to yourself!

Rooms

The 12 thatched bush suites are all set on wooden stilts and offer either ocean or forest views. All are air-conditioned and have tea and coffee facilities. The Deluxe Ocean View Suite and Ocean View Family Room both also have private plunge pools. The suites are positioned to afford maximum privacy and minimal environmental impact.

Facilities

There is a choice of dining venues ranging from a shady spot in the forest to the indoor dining room as well as a well-stocked bar. Sun loungers are available at both of the pools and on the beach deck, just steps from the ocean. Relax on a hammock under the trees or in the lounge where Wi-Fi is available or enjoy a treatment at the small onsite spa. Guided snorkelling and forest walks, kayaking, a sundowner excursion to Lake Sibaya and a Tsonga cultural tour are all included in the nightly rate, along with seasonal turtle tracking walks (November – February).
