Overview
Mumbo Island Camp is an eco-friendly island retreat set within Lake Malawi National Park, approximately 10km offshore from Cape Maclear. Surrounded by clear freshwater and natural woodland, the camp offers a peaceful escape with a focus on low-impact tourism and outdoor experiences.
Rooms
The camp has six chalets, comprising five Island Chalets and one four-bed Forest Chalet. The Island Chalets are built on rocky outcrops overlooking the lake, while the Forest Chalet is tucked into the woodland near the beach. All accommodation has en-suite bathrooms, hot bucket showers, eco-toilets and private decks with hammocks.
Facilities
The camp has a lakeside dining area, bar and shaded lounge beneath a large baobab tree. There is also a watersports deck with kayaks and snorkelling equipment. The camp operates off-grid, with solar-powered lighting and a central charging station for guests' devices.

"We had an amazing, awesome trip to Tanzania and Zanzibar. Everything ran smoothly and we managed to see the Big 5 plus lots of lions, tree lions cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, hippos, elephants galore etc. Even the wildebeest. The accommodation was great everywhere. We had the most wonderful time and despite the cost, the air balloon flight was so worth it. Such an experience, none of us will ever forget."
