Classic Zambia - Tailor Made Fly-In
Highlights * Walking in the South Luangwa * Game Drives * Lower Zambezi * River Cruise
Fly from Lusaka to the South Luangwa. This beautiful park is particularly well known for its walking safaris so it’s worth taking some time and really getting to know the park. That’s why we recommend splitting your stay here between two camps – a lodge by the river and a traditional bush camp. It’s a thrilling experience setting out on foot, you see the wildlife from a very different angle and there’s no engine noise to disturb the natural sounds of the bush. We find it a very genuine safari experience. At night, dine under the stars by candlelight and recount stories around the campfire. A lodge on the banks of the river gives a different perspective, and a touch more luxury – choose a lodge with a pool to cool off in after thrilling game drives and enjoy the river views.
Fly to the Lower Zambezi for a further 3 nights on safari. This park is very different to the South Luangwa, with the game concentrated on the valley floor between the Zambezi River and the towering escarpment. As well as game drives, here you can enjoy activities on the river. Canoeing gives yet another perspective on game viewing – you’re looking up at an elephant rather than down! You may come across large pods of hippos on scenic boat cruises and see spectacular sunsets. Some lodges also offer catch and release fishing and the birdlife here is incredible.
Fly to Livingstone for 2 nights. Choose a hotel close to town or a beautiful lodge on the river and visit the iconic Victoria Falls. There are many activities in the area from sunset cruises and helicopter flights to dinner on board an elegant train – we recommend advance booking.
Transfer to the airport and continue your safari adventure or return home.
This is a sample itinerary which can be personalised for your requirements. The accommodation choices are up to you – we will happily make recommendations based on your preferences and our personal experiences.
