Eastern Cape - Wild Coast

Stretching for 280km between Kei River Gorge and the Kwazulu Natal border is some of the finest coastal scenery in Africa.

The climate is temperate all year round with warm summers, although the humidity rises from December to March.

Being a remote, rural area, road conditions aren't always as good as in other parts of South Africa and extra time should be allowed when planning your journey.

If you are lucky enough to be visiting the area in June/July you may witness a unique annual event: the 'Sardine Run'.  Millions of sardines migrating north form into large swirling shoals and, as a result, predators congregate in anticipation of the great feast and the water 'boils' with sharks, dolphins, gannets and seals.
