South Africa Panorama - Small Group Tour
If you are seeking an escorted tour through South Africa then this 17 day tour will take you around the country’s finest sights accompanied by an experienced, registered tour guide. The groups are small (2-16 travellers) and overland transport is by air-conditioned luxury vehicles.
Evening flight from Heathrow.
On arrival into Johannesburg you will be transferred to the Residence Hotel for an overnight stay (with breakfast). Rest of day at leisure or for optional local sightseeing.
Depart with your guide and drive through the ever changing Highveld scenery along the fabled Panorama Route and visit the Blyde River Canyon and God’s Window. Stay at Perry’s Bridge near Hazyview for 2 nights (half board).
Depart early in the morning by open vehicle for a game viewing safari in the Kruger National Park. An optional afternoon safari drive is also available (charge applicable).
Travel into the Royal Kingdom of Swaziland, a tiny mountainous kingdom steeped in African traditions and culture, for a night at the Royal Swazi Spa Hotel (breakfast & lunch).
Re-enter South Africa at the Big Bend and drive through KwaZulu-Natal countryside to Ghost Mountain Inn for a stay of 2 nights (half board). Afternoon visit to a Zulu homestead and take in the local scenery.
A morning at leisure, before heading off on a short drive to the famous Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Reserve for a half day game viewing.
Travel along the Elephant Coast to the St Lucia wetlands located in the iSimangaliso Wetland Park – a World Heritage Site – before continuing on to Durban and overnight at the Benjamin Hotel (with breakfast).
Morning tour of Durban. Fly down this afternoon to Port Elizabeth, where you will be met and transferred to the Radisson Blu hotel for a night (with breakfast).
Head out along the Garden Route – drive through the beautiful Tsitsikamma Forest to Storms River Gorge and onwards to Plettenberg Bay for 2 nights at Hunter's Country House (half board).
A day spent touring the surrounding area with visits to a wine estate and Birds of Eden, the largest free-flight bird aviary in the world.
Start the day with a cruise along the Keurbooms River and continue along the coast to Knysna for further local sightseeing before crossing the Outeniqua Pass to the ostrich capital of Oudtshoorn. Visit an ostrich farm before arriving at De Opstal Country Lodge (half board).
Enjoy a tour of the famous Cango Caves before driving along the charming R62 route to Cape Town, arriving in the afternoon for a 3 night stay at Southern Sun Waterfront hotel (with breakfast).
Days 14 – 15
Enjoy a full day, 90-mile tour of the stunning Cape Peninsula and Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and a full day tour of the nearby Cape Winelands.
A morning tour of Cape Town completes your tour before an afternoon transfer to the airport for the evening flight to London.
