Maasai Walking Trail - Kenya Experiences

​A walking safari provides a unique experience: senses become more attuned to the surrounding sights, sounds and smells of Africa as you follow paths and explore areas where few vehicles go.  The walking covers gentle slopes and some steeper terrain and suits people who are used to doing some walking.  A deep and intimate relationship with the wild develops with each passing day and is an enriching experience for the traveller wishing to explore on foot. Individual private itineraries can also be arranged.

Day 1

Arrive Nairobi and travel to Jan’s Camp for a briefing and overnight stay (lunch and dinner)

Day 2 - 5

Each day’s walk is around 6 hours led by the Maasai who will share their knowledge of the land, wildlife, stars and stories of old. A different camp or lodge is used each night.(full board)

Day 6

Descend from the plateau into the valley. Travel on to Nairobi or extend your stay in one of the lodges in the area (full board)

Note:  This tour will suit most people who are able to walk unaided and have a basic level of fitness.  The pace is gentle and is guided by the game viewings and weather.  Pack animals carry the luggage so you will only need a small day pack.
