THE CONNOISSEUR SAFARI

Safari, game reserves

Day 1 Day 1 Morning flight from Heathrow Airport to Nairobi. On arrival in the early evening transfer to the Serena Hotel for overnight.
Day 2 After breakfast depart in a 4x4 Landcruiser on your 10-day/9-night safari. Head north through a patchwork of coffee plantations and small farms towards Mount Kenya. Continue deep into the forests and overnight at Mountain Lodge. In front of the lodge is a floodlit waterhole which attracts a variety of game. (BLD)
Day 3 Drive into the Great Rift Valley and lunch at Lake Nakuru. View the prolific birdlife and wildlife. Overnight at Lion Hill Lodge. (BLD)
Day 4 A morning drive to the Masai Mara Game Reserve for lunch at Keekorok Lodge. In the afternoon continue to Mara Serena Lodge where 2 nights are spent. From the lodge there are wonderful views across the plains. (BLD)
Day 5 A full day spent game viewing. During July to October vast herds of wildebeest and zebra are to be seen. Optional hot air balloon safari available, subject to weather conditions. (BLD)
Day 6 After an early breakfast drive to the shores of Lake Victoria, crossing into Tanzania at Isebania. Afternoon at leisure at Speke Bay Lodge which overlooks the lake. Optional afternoon boat cruise. (BLD)
Day 7 Morning visit to a nearby village with local fishermen taking you in their canoes. Afternoon in Serengeti Western Corridor with a picnic lunch en route. 2 nights at Serengeti Serena Lodge. (BLD)
Day 8 Full day spent game viewing in the Serengeti. (BLD)
Day 9 Across the Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater with a stop en route at Olduvai Gorge to see the archaeological museum. Stay 2 nights at the Ngorongoro Serena Lodge. Afternoon at leisure or an optional guided nature walk along the top of the crater. (BLD)
Day 10 A half day game viewing in the crater. This vast spectacularly beautiful circular amphitheatre is home to huge numbers of wildlife. (BLD)
Day 11 Morning drive to Arusha for lunch. Transfer to Kilimanjaro for the afternoon flight to Nairobi. Connect with the evening flight to London. (BL)
Day 12 Morning arrival at Heathrow.
Note: On Day 11 you can continue your
holiday and fly from Arusha to
Zanzibar or from Nairobi to a Kenyan
beach resort.
