Northern Namibia

SERRA CAFEMA
This This truly remote camp is located in the far north of
Namibia on thesouthern banks of the Kunene River at the foot of the
Hartmann’s Valley. It is in a wonderful location and can accommodate
a maximum of 16
guests in walk-in tents which are raised off the ground and each has
en facilities, outdoor shower and private viewing deck overlooking
the river valley and the hills. The main lodge is under big, shady
Albia trees with uninterrupted views of the valley. There is a bar,
dining area and small swimming pool. A daily laundry service is
provided in the tariff as are all meals and safari activities.
Drinks are included on game drives and house-wine at dinner. Game
viewing in the area is limited to large herds of oryx and springbok
and prolific birdlife. Three species of birds not seen anywhere else
in Africa may be spotted - Cinderella Waxbills, Rufous Bellied
Palmthrush and Grey Kestrels. Palm Nut vultures are occasionally
seen as well as a number of the Namibian endemic birds. Activities
include nature drives by open Land Rovers, traversing the sand dunes
on quad bikes, boating on the river, walks in the valley and visits
to a working Himba village.
PALMWAG RHINO CAMP
The camp is situated in a private concession area covering a
staggering1 million acres of land and offers an original and
exclusive wilderness experience. The camp can accommodate up to 14
guests in Meru-style en suite tents (with bucket showers) and power
is provided by solar panels. A tented dining and living area offers
uninterrupted views of the desert and mountains, while the
extraordinary welwitchia plants dot the plain in front of the camp.
All meals and activities are included together with drinks on game
drives and house-wine at dinner. As a result of the severe water
shortage in the area there is no laundry service. This is a mobile
camp, which has been established with ‘Save The Rhino Trust’. The
area supports the largest free roaming population of Black rhino in
Africa as well as a healthy number of desert adapted elephants.
There are good populations of zebra, giraffe, oryx, springbok and
occasionally cheetah and lion are to be seen. Bird life is prolific
and diverse. Activities include rhino tracking on foot and by
vehicle and full day nature and game drives. Night drives are also
possible
