This area is know
locally as ‘The Bowl’ and though it is a modern city
centre it boasts a number of historic sites such as Cape
Town
Castle which houses a military history of the Cape.
Also at the Castle is the superb Iziko William Fehr
Collection of furniture, paintings, ceramics and silver.
There are many other museums all within walking
distance, as are the beautiful parliament buildings.
Stroll through the beautiful gardens (originally the
vegetable garden of the Dutch East India Company) and
visit the daily market in Greenmarket Square. No visit
to Cape Town is complete without a trip in the cable car
to the top of Table Mountain.
For a complete change of scene, visit the fascinating
Malay quarter with its steep and narrow streets, plain
artisan houses, mosques and minarets.
