Island Wildlife

Day 1 On arrival in
Antananarivo connect with the flight to Fort Dauphin. Transfer to
hotel Croix du Sud for overnight. (D) If arriving
in Tana in the early morning then a day room will be provided at an
hotel prior to your onward flight.
Day 2 By road to Berenty Reserve
with stops at various places of interest. Arrive late afternoon and
stay at Berenty Lodge for 2
nights. Night walk in the spiny forest to try and find the mouse
lemur. (BD)
Day 3 Day spent visiting the
reserve to see the brown lemur, white sifaka and ring-tailed
lemur. (BD)
Day 4 After breakfast drive back
to Fort Dauphinfor the afternoon flight to Antananarivo. Transfer to
the Royal Palissandre Hotel for
overnight. (BD)
Day 5 Drive eastwards to
Andasibe through typical landscape of the highlands and eastern rain
forest. Arrive late morning and stay at Vakona Lodge for 2 nights.
Afternoon visit to the local private reserve to view lemurs and
other animals. (BD)
Day 6 Full day walk in the
Mantadia Reserve to discover the various lemurs including the grey
bamboo and the common brown plus endemic birdlife. Nocturnal walk
for spotting frogs, chameleons and lemurs. (BD
Day 7 Morning walk in the
Analamzaotra Reserve in search of the indri indri which is the
largest of the lemur species. In the afternoon return to
Antananarivo and overnight at the Royal Palissandre. (BD)
Day 8 Transfer to the airport
after breakfast and fly north to Diego-Suarez. Sightseeing tour of
Diego town. Spend 3 nights at the Grand Hotel. (BD)
Day 9 Visit Montage des Francais
(French Mountain) for stunning views before going to a near-by bay
for a picnic lunch. (BD)
Day 10 Full day excursion to
Montage D’Ambre National Park to discover the flora and fauna. Walk
through the botanical gardens
to the ‘Big Waterfall’. In the afternoon visit a private reserve
before returning to the Grand Hotel. (BD)
Day 11 Drive to Ankarana Special
Reserve – an ‘island’ of tsingy (limestone karst pinnacles) and
forest. Also visit the amazing bat caves. Continue to Ambanoro for
the late afternoon boat transfer to Nosy Be. Accommodation at the
Amarina Hotel for 4 nights. (BD)
Day 12 Spend the day visiting
nearby islands by boat – starting at Nosy Komba and then to Nosy
Tanikely. Picnic lunch and time for swimming and snorkelling. (BD)
Day 13 Full day excursion to
Lokobe Reserve. (BD)
Day 14 Day at leisure for
relaxation. (BD)
Day 15 Fly back to Antananarivo
and connect with your onward flight home. (B)

ROYAL PALISSANDRE
Set on the hills overlooking the city, just a 10 minute walk from
the centre, this Malagasy style hotel has 43 air conditioned en

A complex of simple, spacious wooden chalet accommodation with en

set in the grounds. Attractive tea gardens visited by lemurs.
Restaurant has reputation for fine food.

Facing the lagoon of Ambohidahy Bay and having access to a 900m long
beach, this is the only 4 star hotel in the resort. It has 37 sea
facing air conditioned bedrooms divided into 10 pavilions.
